24V DC motor-driven zero-line pressure accumulation conveyors

Our 24V DC motor-driven zero-line pressure accumulation conveyors are able to convey multiple product types across a wide range of industries. Ensuring safe working conditions and low cost-of-ownership, these driven conveyors are the ideal solution for moving products.

Find out more

In certain types of conveyor systems, there is a need to accumulate product – i.e., to stop each individual product on the conveyor, whether to create a buffer, allow an external process such as labelling or filling, or create a FIFO queue.

Traditional accumulation methods are either low pressure or a full stop. Low pressure accumulation allows products to drive into each other at the end of the line until a saturation point is reached, in which case the conveyor switches off. This leads to the product being pushed into the product in front of it, and depending on weight, speed and the length of the saturation zone, this could lead to product damage. This is called ‘line pressure’, and causes damage to the product and/or packaging, as well as increased wear and tear on the conveyors.

This additional wear and tear reduces conveyor efficiencies, and increases the day-to-day cost of ownership from both a maintenance and input cost point of view.

Siyamuva zero-pressure accumulation (ZPA) conveyor modules are the answer.

Our ZPA modules utilise various types of drive mechanisms:
  • Rollers with either round of poly ‘v’ belts
  • Full-width conveyor belts Micro wheels

These mechanisms are used to create zones for individual product transportation. Each zone is controlled by a roller with an internal drive motor, control card and sensor. This means that each zone has its own motor and sensor and, depending on the type of system and the specific requirements, there may either be a control card per zone, or a card that controls multiple zones. These cards are also able to be set up in a closed network or operated by a PLC. All motors are 24V DC, replacing the commonly-used external motor / gearbox.

As each product is transferred from zone to zone, the cards communicate to let the zones know if there is a product in the next zone; if there is, that zone will not transfer the product into the next zone until it is clear.

Each zone length is calculated according to the following:
  • Maximum product length
    • This calculates the maximum length of the zone
  • Minimum product length
    • This calculates the number of rollers required under the zone (roller pitch) as well as the speed required for the smallest parcel to move into the next zone
  • Maximum daily / hourly throughput
    • This determines the overall speed required by the system
Siyamuva ZPA modules are ideal for use in the following industries and environments:
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food
  • Beverage (end of line)
  • Motor
  • Electronic
  • Production facilities
  • Distribution centres
  • Couriers

Siyamuva gravity conveyor modules

Gravity or non-mechanised conveyors are the most cost-effective and efficient way to move product with minimal effort.

Find out more

Gravity conveyors are some of the most cost-effective and versatile ‘starter’ conveyors available. These conveyors are generally populated with rollers, skate wheels or ball transfer units. We offer a full range of gravity modules in varying widths and lengths, suitable for most unit load industries. Modules can be free standing, included in a conveying system, or on castor wheels for easy movement.

Our gravity conveyors are manufactured from our T-slot aluminium profiles, in mild steel or stainless steel, with gravity rollers to suit. Depending on the solution required, roller diameters range from 30mm to 89mm, in mild steel, stainless steel or PVC, with a full range of suitable bearings.

Our gravity modules are suitable for use in the following industries and environments:
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food
  • Beverage (end of line)
  • Motor
  • Electronic
  • Production facilities
  • Distribution centres
  • Couriers

Siyamuva line shaft conveyor modules

Our range of line shaft conveyor modules provides the ideal cost-effective solution for long lines of continuous conveyors.

Find out more

A line shaft conveyor is a conveying unit that is driven by a shaft under a bed of rollers. These conveyors are suitable for light applications up to 50kg, such as cardboard boxes and tote boxes.

A single shaft runs underneath and perpendicular to a bed of rollers, running the entire length of the conveyor module. The shaft is populated with a number of spools equal to the number of rollers above, with one spool for each roller. Each Siyamuva grooved roller is connected to the shaft and spool by means of an O-ring. The O-ring acts as the driving mechanism to turn the roller when the shaft is powered – as the rollers rotate, they move the product on the rollers in the direction of travel. The shaft is driven by an external motor/gearbox, the speed and kW of which is determined by the load and throughput required.

The Siyamuva line shaft conveyor offers low pressure accumulation, so products will make contact with each other on the line. The contact is kept to a minimum due to the spool acting as a clutch on the shaft and rotating when under too much pressure.

The Siyamuva line shaft conveyor offers low pressure accumulation, so products will make contact with each other on the line. The contact is kept to a minimum due to the spool acting as a clutch on the shaft and rotating when under too much pressure.

Advantages of this conveyor include quiet operation, easy installation, moderate maintenance, and low expenses. Line-shaft conveyors are also extremely safe for people to work around, as the elastic belts can stretch in order to not injure fingers should any get caught underneath them. Moreover, the spools will slip and allow the rollers to stop moving if clothing, hands or hair gets caught in them. The spools are also slightly loose on the shaft, acting like clutches that slip when products are required to accumulate (stop moving and bump up against each other; queue up).

With the exception of soft bottomed containers like cement bags, these conveyors can be utilised for almost all applications.

A disadvantage of the line shaft conveyor is that it can only be used to convey products that span at least three rollers, but rollers can be as small as 17mm in diameter and as close together as 18.5mm. For items shorter than 74mm, the conveyor belt system is generally used as an alternative option.

Siyamuva line shaft conveyors are suitable for use in the following industries and environments:

Siyamuva Curve Conveyors

In both large conveyor systems and simple lines, there may be a need to move product around a corner, while keeping the orientation of the product in the same state. In this instance, the Siyamuva curve conveyor is the ideal solution.

Find out more

Our curve conveyor units utilise sleeved rollers to move product through either 45°, 60°, 90° or 180° angles, while maintaining each product’s orientation. The sleeved or tapered rollers ensure the orientation by creating a camber, creating a smooth transition around the corner.

Our curve conveyors can be supplied in either gravity or driven modules. The driven modules have the following drive mechanisms:
  • Round belt with grooved rollers
  • Poly V belts with sprocketed rollers
  • Chain-driven jump drive with sprocketed rollers
  • Line shaft type drives
  • Poly cord pulley system
Siyamuva curve conveyors are driven by means of the following drive types:
  • External motor gearbox
  • Motor-driven rollers

Standard roller curves are supplied in 400mm, 600mm and 800mm, and we can tailor-make a solution to meet your requirements.

In order for us to supply the optimal product, the following will be required:

Siyamuva belt conveyors

Belt conveyors are the preferred choice in instances in which products are not suitable to conveyance via roller type solutions, such as the Siyamuva 24V DC motor-driven conveyors or the Siyamuva line shaft conveyor, or in cases in which the product needs to be inclined or declined.

Find out more

Our range of belt conveyors allow you to easily convey products with unstable bases or a small footprint that may fall between rollers, bags of material that could sag between rollers, and products that need to be moved up or down between different levels.

Siyamuva belt conveyors are manufactured from our T-slot aluminium or mild steel, with the following types of slider beds:

  • Wooden deck with relief rollers
  • Steel deck with relief rollers
  • Gravity rollers only

The above slider bed types are determined by the type and weight of product and the length of the conveyor, as each slider bed has a different coefficient of friction attribute.

A single belt is used as the conveying medium in a belt conveyor. Depending on the length required, shorter belt conveyors can have a terminal drive or central drive station, while longer belt conveyors will all have central drive stations.

Drive types used in Siyamuva belt conveyors include:

  • External motor gearboxes
  • High-torque Itoh Denki MDRs
  • Drum motors

When we are designing the ideal belt conveyor solution for you, we require the following information:

  • Maximum product size and weight
    • This is used to calculate the width and overall length of the conveyor, as well as the type of deck and speed required
    • The motor size is also calculated according to the weight on the conveyor
  • Minimum product length
    • This is used to calculate the type of deck and speed required
  • Maximum daily / hourly throughput
    • This determines the overall speed required by the system
  • Starting height
    • For an inclining and declining conveyors
    • Combined with the finishing height and product weight, this determines the make-up of the module

Siyamuva belt conveyors are suitable for use in the following industries and environments:

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food
  • Beverage (end of line)
  • Motor
  • Electronic
  • Production facilities

Siyamuva merge conveyors

In cases in which two or more conveyor lines are required to merge into a single conveyor, Siyamuva merge conveyors provide an easy solution.

Find out more

Our merge conveyors use Itoh Denki zero-pressure accumulation technology, combined with our T-slot aluminium and roller ranges. The merge unit is fundamentally a roller conveyor with rollers that are manipulated to form a ‘V’ or ‘wedge’ to suit the merge angle required. The standard merge angles in this range are 30°, 45° and 60°.

Itoh Denki zero-pressure accumulation technology ensures that products are easily aligned and do not jam. These units can be driven by either poly belts or round belts. Our preferred method is the poly V unit, as the positive mechanical drive delivered by the poly V belts ensure that products merge correctly and without any timing of lagging issues, avoiding jamming. To further guarantee that products find their correct slot every time, all the rollers are lagged.

To provide the ideal solution for your needs, the following information is required:
  • Maximum product size and weight
    • This is used to calculate the width and overall length of the conveyor, the maximum window size, the speed of the merge, and the overall speed of the unit
  • Minimum product length
    • This is used to calculate the window size for the product to be delivered into, as well as the speed
  • Maximum daily / hourly throughput
    • This determines the overall speed on the main line conveyor as well as the speed of the merge
Siyamuva merge conveyors are suitable for use in the following industries and environments:
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food
  • Beverage (end of line)
  • Motor
  • Electronic
  • Production facilities
  • Distribution centres
  • Couriers

Siyamuva vertical transfer units (VTU)

When space is at a premium and the through-puts of a system are not very high or fast, the Siyamuva vertical transfer unit is a great option. This unit allows product to be lifted to another floor in a stable manner, maintaining the orientation of the product.

Find out more

Our vertical transfer units use Itoh Denki zero-pressure accumulation technology on the conveyor bed, combined with our T-slot aluminium range as the structure of the unit. An external motor gearbox unit is used to lift and lower the conveyor bed.

The Itoh Denki zero-pressure accumulation technology allows product to be moved into the VTU and held in place during lifting and lowering. Only once the conveyor in the VTU is aligned with the entry or exit conveyors does the unit allow the product to be driven off.

Our custom VTUs are designed according to the following information:

  • Maximum product size and weight
    • This is used to calculate the width and overall length of the conveyor in the VTU, as well as the lifting capacity required
  • Minimum product length
    • This is used to calculate the roller pitch
  • Maximum daily / hourly throughput
    • This determines the overall speed required by the system

Siyamuva VTUs are suitable for use in the following industries and environments:

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food
